Judge Creason was appointed to the Marion Superior Court in March 2023. He is currently assigned to Superior Court 16 in the Family Division. He presides over juvenile, domestic relations, and child-related probate cases. Prior to being appointed to the Superior Court, Judge Creason served on the Marion Circuit Court as a Magistrate where he handled that court’s civil caseload.
Before his service as a judicial officer, Judge Creason served Hoosiers for 23 years at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. During his tenure, Judge Creason served under five governors and six attorneys general of both major political parties, ultimately rising to Chief Counsel of Appeals and head prosecutor. In that role, he represented the State of Indiana in civil and criminal cases before all levels of appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. Courts of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, and Court of Appeals of Indiana. He also frequently appeared in federal and state trial courts across Indiana in various matters.
Additionally, Judge Creason has taught law at Indiana University, served as an attorney for the Indiana Supreme Court, and been a fellow at the Supreme Court of the United States through the National Association of Attorneys General.
Judge Creason grew up on the east side of Indianapolis, and is a graduate of Warren Central High School, Wabash College, and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He is active in his church, Scouts, and various community organizations supporting youth.
