Cynthia Oetjen was appointed by Governor Holcomb and began her service March 1, 2021, in Criminal Court 30. Judge Oetjen presides over major felony cases. Judge Oetjen currently serves on the Executive Committee and is a member of the Supreme Court Domestic Violence Advisory Committee.
Before graduating law school in 2003, Judge Oetjen owned and operated Crystal Cleaners, a local dry cleaner in Indianapolis. After law school, Judge Oetjen served as a Marion County Deputy Prosecutor focusing in the areas of sex crimes, child abuse and adult protective services. Judge Oetjen was also a supervisor of the Special Victims Unit at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Judge Oetjen earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis and her law degree from Robert McKinney School of Law. Judge Oetjen is a former member of the Indiana National Guard and currently volunteers at the MOM House, a local ministry focused on assisting mothers and young children.
